Captains log — Social Distancing/Distance Learning Day 36

The Captain has been slammed lately, so there has not been an update for a little while. It feels as though the ship is taking water — and sleep is not happening.

As we work through the crazy with all of us being home, what I am finding is that its harder to keep kids interested in distance learning. They are missing their friends, seeing their teachers in person, and being in the fabulous environment that our school provided. They love the school, but its harder to do it from home, and with mom or dad helping out. One kid is trying to get their work done ahead of time, and one is trying to put it off as long as possible. I am trying to find some different rewards systems to keep them engaged, but its been an interesting learning curve.

As we continue to work from home, we are doing our best to keep up with the daily routine. That has become harder too. When the sleep goes off the rocker, then it becomes harder to function during the daylight hours. Most of the work that I have gotten done in the last couple of weeks has been in the dark hours of the early mornings.

The battle of the boxes has been put on hold. The energy is not there to deal with it right now, and so they have been delegated to the garage for the time being. I am trying to keep up with what we have right now, and keep the…
